Audiobooks and Stories

Hi guys,

Just in case you want to practice your English listening skills, here are a few links where you can listen to ESL stories and audiobooks for free. Some you can even download as mp3 and take with you wherever you go.
There are many other websites as well, so if you want to and find yourselves with a lot of free time, you can google "ESL audiobook" and various links will pop up.

This is, of course, optional. But I find it useful.

THE ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES OF OWNING A CAR

THE ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES OF OWNING A CAR

Having a car is really imporant these days, and it is beneficial. However, it may have some disadvantages. Spending money on insurance and gas is one of the disadvantages. In addition,
you will harm the environment by having a car!

First of all, when are thinking about buying a car, you should see your budget. You will have a long list of payments, such as the insurance, checking service and gas. Also, it might cause a harm to the environment. the emission of cars is a serious problem.

On the other hand, having a car could be a good thing. You can do your things easily and fast. You can travel and explore places you want.

The Dolphins

The dolphins are the friends of the humans in the ocean.

The scientific people want to focus their attention about the dolphins for three reasons: the dolphins accept to communicate with the humans, the dolphins can live in close space in the laboratories and aquariums for to study their life and the dolphins have special capacity of to give many frequencies from their brain for to help at humans.

First, the dolphins accept to communicate with humans. For example, some people see that the dolphins want to swim with the humans in the ocean. For illustrate, if the people want to visit the aquariums then because the people can be very close of the dolphins and the dolphins show them to be friendly.

Second, the dolphins can live in close space in the laboratories or aquariums for to study their life. For illustrate this point then we can say that when some biologists have been studying about the dolphins in the aquariums, this is because the biologists can take new information of the relationship between the humans and the dolphins.

Also, the dolphins have special capacity of to give many frequencies from their brain for to help at humans. In other words, when the biologists work with the dolphins in their aquariums then the biologists give therapy dolphins at humans. These therapy dolphins are some moments of that the humans swim with dolphins in the pool and the biologists put the head human together at the head dolphin end then for short time the humans can receive special frequencies on their heads.

Finally, the dolphins can be good friends with the people because the dolphins want to communicate with the persons, the dolphins can have adaptation to live in close spaces and the dolphins can give health at people.
my friends thanks so much for to read this paragraph.

Visitor in Memphis

Hello everyone! I came from Argentina to the USA just three weeks ago. I will stay in Memphis only for two months because I want to learn English. But, in addition I wish to know the city as much as possible. I have read and I have heard some suggestions and I want to share them with you.
One of the most important tourist places is "Graceland", the house where lived the "king of Rock & Roll", Elvis Presley. Go to Graceland's Meditation Garden could be a peaceful and free experience.
The famous "Beale Street" is known like the birthplace of the blues. In this street we can find a lot of bars, lights and great music.
Also, I would like to go to see a game of The Memphis Grizzlies, one of the most famous basketball teams in the National Basketball Association (NBA).
Finally, somebody suggested me that I could visit The Orpheum Theatre and the National Civil Rights Museum at the Lorraine Motel, where Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated on April 4, 1968.

I hope that you would like know these interesting places like me! Greetings!

Two boys were arguing when the teacher entered the room. The teacher says, "Why are you arguing?"One boy answers, "We found a ten dollar bill and decided to give it to whoever tells the biggest lie.""You should be ashamed of yourselves," said the teacher, "When I was your age I didn't even know what a lie was."
The boys gave the ten dollars to the teacher.

I hope you like them.

Weekend Trip to Amsterdam

Weekend Trip to Amsterdam:

I went to Amsterdam with my 3 girlfriends from Cologne in Germany.  It was in April 2013 and just for the weekend. We travelled from Cologne to Amsterdam by train. It took about 2.5 hours on the ICE (Inter-City-Express) with no transfer. We chose Amsterdam because it is one of the most beautiful cities in Europe and very famous for its buildings, canals and museums. It can be reached easily by train from Cologne.  We took a canal boat cruise to get a general overview of the city. We visited several museums. We walked on the famous streets of Amsterdam.  We enjoyed also the delicious food of Amsterdam such as appetizers like “bitter ballen”, deep fried croquettes, French fries with mayonnaise and Holland’s most popular cheese Gouda.  I recommend to everyone to go to Amsterdam and visit this nice city.
